Traffic Delays Expected Thursday, Friday

MARIETTA, GA -- The Marietta Police Department would like to inform all drivers to be aware of upcoming heavy traffic delays.

On Thursday, Dec. 30 and Friday, Dec. 31, a large number of vehicles is anticipated in the area for the funeral services for Trooper First Class Chadwick LaCroy of the Georgia State Patrol.

On Thursday afternoon, delays are expected in the area of Marietta Square, Church Street, Cherokee Street, North Marietta Parkway and the surrounding side streets.

Friday morning, expect heavy vehicle traffic in the same area, as well as the Roswell Street corridor to Roswell Street Baptist Church and surrounding side streets.

Around noon on Friday, there will be rolling road closures for the funeral procession from Mayes Ward Dobbins to Roswell Street Baptist Church; upon completion of the service, there will be closures from the church to Kennesaw Memorial Cemetery.

Help Low Income Families by Stuffing a Bus

COBB COUNTY, GA -- Cobb Community Transit and the Cobb Department of Transportation are doing their part to help low income families in the county enjoy the holidays by sponsoring the 2010 Stuff-A-Bus, benefiting Cobb Christmas, Inc.

The public's help is needed for Stuff-A-Bus with donations of money, new toys and gifts, non-perishable food items and gift certificates. Cobb County's generosity will brighten the holidays for thousands of local low income families.

Cobb Christmas is the county's oldest and largest holiday assistance program.

Donations will be accepted at the following times and locations:

Monday, Dec. 6
* Cobb County Offices -- 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
* Durham Middle School (2891 Mars Hill Road NW, Acworth, 30101) -- 10:30 a.m.

Free Bus Rides To/From Dobbins ARB Show

MARIETTA, GA -- Dobbins Air Reserve Base officials have finalized arrangements to provide transportation to the Wings Over Atlanta air show.

The base will fund transportation at no cost to spectators. Buses will be made available to transport all attendees to and from three locations: Cobb Galleria, Six Flags White Water and Lockheed Martin. Cobb County officials will provide support assistance at the parking lots, including comfort areas and law enforcement.

Dobbins ARB will host the open house/air show on Oct. 16 and 17 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. both days. The event is free.

This year's headline flying acts are the world-famous Blue Angels, Canadian Snowbirds and the U.S. Air Force Academy Wings of Blue parachute team.
