Six Flags customer service exceeds expectations

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Six Flags Over Georgia received its most positive guest feedback ever in 2012, the theme park announced Monday.

The park gathered guest data, including compliments and complaints, through both paper and online surveys.

"While we have always been known for our safe and thrilling environment, we were excited about guests' reaction to our heightened focus on providing a unique and fun-filled day at the park," Six Flags Over Georgia president Dale Kaetzel said in a statement. "We will continue taking our offerings up another notch in 2013 and expect guests will be pleasantly surprised."

Atlanta-area residents win Publix Ga. Marathon

ATLANTA -- Sunday's Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon was an enormous success, with more than 16,000 racers running up and down the streets of Atlanta.

A local resident won first place in the marathon. Malcolm Campbell of Marietta earned a time of 2:26:11. He improved upon his time of 2:31:26 in the Atlanta Marathon last October, where he finished second.

"It was a tremendously challenging course," Campbell said after Sunday's race. "The weather was a huge help for the runners today."

Jill Horst of Rome won her second consecutive Publix Georgia Marathon women's first place with a time of 2:54:24.

Atlanta resident Andrew Heath placed first in the half marathon with a time of 1:09:55. Justyna Mudy of Rome won the women's half marathon at 1:18:50.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Registration will soon be open for Summer Camps in Cobb County. 

An official for Cobb County said camps this summer will cover a variety of interests, including arts and performance, recreation, tennis, golf, and therapeutics for those with special needs. Registration start dates and times vary across programs. A list is provided below.

ATLANTA -- Monday is the birthday of Monkey Joe, namesake of the popular indoor bounce house venues.

To celebrate, Monkey Joe's is offering plenty of family fun, including reduced admission prices, all day.

On Feb. 18, entry into every Monkey Joe's location is only $5. The first 100 children at each facility will be treated to a free pizza party, and the first 75 children will be given birthday party goodie bags.

"Monkey Joe's birthday party provides us an opportunity to thank our loyal customers for their continued support of Monkey Joe's locations across the country," Monkey Joe's brand manager Sonny Crumpton said in a statement. MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Marietta Police Department's Police Athletic League is gearing up for this year's youth track season.

Registration for the PAL Youth Track Club will be held Feb. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Marietta High School

Roddy White to host football camp

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White will host a football camp for budding athletes this summer.

The 2013 Academy Sports + Outdoors Roddy White Football ProCamp will be Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It will be hosted at Lassiter High School in Marietta.

White's camp is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 14. It will focus on football fundamentals and becoming a better athlete.

The cost is $149 per child, which includes a T-shirt, goodie bag and an autographed team photo with White.

Kennesaw, S.C. residents win Atlanta Marathon

Kennesaw, S.C. residents win Atlanta Marathon

ATLANTA -- Nearly 2,500 people hit the streets of Atlanta Saturday for this year's Atlanta Marathon and Marathon Relay.

Kennesaw resident Reuben Mwei was the clear winner of the marathon. He broke through the tape at 2:23:25, more than eight minutes before the second place finisher, to take home the $1,000 grand prize.

Saturday's race was the 26 year old's first-ever marathon. He also won the Allstate Life Insurance Atlanta 13.1 Marathon on Oct. 7 with a time of 1:09:12.

The second man to cross the finish line was Marietta resident Malcolm Campbell, 41, whose final time was 2:31:26. Twenty-nine-year-old Justin Gillette of Goshen, Ind., winner of the 2011 Atlanta Marathon, placed third with a time of 2:36:27.
