Whether you’re planning a small or large wedding reception, it’s best to gear up with a bit of knowledge before you go hunting for a caterer. I had the opportunity to meet with Michelle Pethel, catering coordinator of the restaurant Gabe’s Downtown. Gabe’s is one of the best-kept secrets of metro Atlanta offering classic upscale Louisiana fare in a casual setting. The restaurant’s executive chef and co-owner, Gabe Toups, was also executive chef at New Orleans’ renowned Broussard’s in the French Quarter as well as the Metro Bistro. Who else to receive great expert advice on selecting a caterer for one of the most memorable days of your life? Michelle offered some wonderful tips in choosing the right caterer for your reception.

The restaurant isn’t seen as trendy or a “hot spot” but neighbors love it for its calm environment and fresh offerings. The restaurant is located at 840 Ernest Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw.

Thaicoon offers a huge menu; they feature favorites like miso soup, spring rolls, num tok and an extensive list of sushi rolls, nigiri and sashimi. The restaurant is huge and has a bar where you can watch sushi chefs prepare your sushi.

Atlanta locals love J.Christopher’s, a restaurant that serves “familiar food with flair”. The restaurant serves the normal breakfast foods, in addition to their own unique creation “skillet”. Skillets are oven-roasted potatoes mixed with a selection of ingredients and two “sunny side up” eggs. The restaurant is located at 2700 Town Center Drive in Kennesaw.

The Whistle Stop Café Kennesaw is a small restaurant in Kennesaw that serves up home-style country cooking. And the restaurant is described as a casual, laid back restaurant with a free lot and under $10 fare. The restaurant is located at 1200 Ernest W.
