Woman running unlicensed care facility bonds out of jail
News

MARIETTA, Ga. -- A woman accused of operating an unlicensed care facility out of a Marietta home bonded out of jail Wednesday morning.

Marietta Police say Raequel Penny turned herself in around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities say one family has already been reunited with their loved one, who was in Penny's care. Investigators are working to reunite the rest of the seniors under her care.

Police say Penny operated a care home in the 900 block of Laurel Springs Lane in Marietta. Police received a tip from the Georgia Healthcare Facility Regulation (HFR) Division about the unlicensed home on August 21.

Detectives with the Marietta Police Department found the facility to be "in poor condition" when they searched the facility with Adult Protective Services and the Cobb County Police Department. Penny had already closed the care home.
