Cobb Co. police respond to 2 shooting deaths in matter of hours | News
MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County police are investigating after two very different homicides that happened over the course of a few hours – and just a few miles apart.
The first was reported on Saturday in the 3700 block of Austell Road in Marietta, Ga. at around 5:30 p.m.
There, they found a man shot inside a car in the Save-A-Lot parking lot.
The victim, later identified as Corey Dwight Thomas, 41, of Lithia Springs, Ga. was taken to Wellstar South Cobb but died from his injuries.
Police later charged the victim’s apparent girlfriend, Crystal Vincent, 35, of Marietta, Ga. with aggravated assault and felony murder in his death.
She was taken to the Cobb County jail where she is being held without bond.
The next shooting happened just after midnight Sunday in the 100 block of Calibre Lakes Parkway in Smyrna, Ga.
Police were dispatched to Calibre Lakes Apartments where a man said he had shot another inside his apartment.
When police arrived, Michael Tyler, 33, of Marietta, Ga. was already dead from the gunshot wound.
The shooter in this case is not currently being charged with a crime and both he and his wife are cooperating with investigators, police said.
