News

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- The Cobb County Police Department is investigating after a crash that left one man dead.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. on Ernest Barrett Parkway just south of Macland Road.

Police said the driver identified as Deontay T. Webb, 25, of Powder Springs was apparently negotiating a curve when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then began to spin and crossed over a raised median into the southbound lanes before overturning.

The vehicle continued sliding off the western edge of the roadway and landed on its roof.

Webb was sent to Wellstar Cobb Hospital where he was pronounced dead and a passenger, Ryan L. Daniels, 22, of Powder Springs was sent to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Neither was wearing a seatbelt police said.

Police believe high speeds and alcohol both played a contributing factor in the fatal wreck but the accident is still under investigation.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call 770-499-3987.
