VIDEO: Marietta NICU nurse surprised by former patients
News

MARIETTA, Ga. – A local neonatal nurse was surprised by former patients at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.

For the past 33 years, Atlanta resident Renee Hendrix says she’s been going to work as an NICU nurse.

"The NICU is an intensive care, which means that our babies are very critical, and we don't know if they're going to make it through a shift," Hendrix. "These parents -- they don't get to take their babies home.  . [So] I feel like, if I treat the babies like I would want somebody to treat my baby when I’m not there, that’s the most important thing.”

Hendrix says she is “hoping to make a difference in someone’s life.” Evidently she has.

As part of Neonatal Nurses Day, Kleenex helped bring Renee’s former patients back to say thank you.

Are you kidding me?! All my favorite people in one room," Hendrix exclaimed.

The video of the surprise, Tiny Miracles, has been viewed more than 1.6 million times since being posted on Tuesday.

“I loved taking care of these babies," Hendrix said. "I don’t do what I do for any kind of thank you but it’s a wonderful feeling to be appreciated.”
