His heartbroken wife is still seeking answers.

The case remains on the radar of the Cobb County Police Department.

The family is hoping that bringing in a fresh set of eyes to look at the clues will lead to finding Chase. Friends say there is no way Chase Massner would simply leave his family would simply leave his family without telling them where he was going.

And while there have always been whispers of foul play, so far, at least, police have yet to find any evidence to support those suspicions.

"Everybody needs to understand that Chase, he's a son, a husband, a father," said family friend Christine Lemoine. "And he's a friend to a lot of people, especially being a veteran, and his extended family has missed him greatly, and we all just really want to be able to bring him home, so that there's closure there for his family… However that happens."

These are the people who hope to help bring the family closure. They are part of the group Missing in America, and organization whose mission it is to look for the lost.

"What you are looking for if you're looking for a deceased person, what you're looking for if you're looking for a live person, you really have to get out there, hit the ground running, and you have to put your hard sweat work into it," said Missing in America founder Nancy Schaffer. "And that's what we do."

Schafer says the New Jersey group has seen success finding people who have been missing – sometimes for decades. They've researched Massner's case for weeks, and will be retracing his last known steps, plus several other undisclosed locations, using hundreds of searchers, dog teams and experts on horseback.

She says they are motivated by his family's refusal to give up hope.

"One of the main things that brought us into the Chase Massner case is the dedication that everyone has put forth to find him," said Sheilangley Lugo of Missing in America. "A lot of people have come together to search for him."
