Arrest made in pawn shop stabbing | News
MARIETTA, Ga. -- Marietta Police have arrested Tomas Lopez Torres Jr., in connection with last month's pawn shop robbery that ended with a clerk being stabbed.
The incident happened Apr. 14 during an attempted robbery at the Hock Shop on Cobb Parkway. Police said the clerk and Torres fought before he stabbed the worker and ran without taking anything.
The clerk survived and was able to call 911 for help.
Marietta Police spokesman David Baldwin said Tuesday that investigators were able to trace the knife used in the attack to a Walmart on Cobb Parkway. Detectives worked with Walmart Loss Prevention officers to find video footage of Torres buying the knife.
The video helped police identify and arrest him, Baldwin said. Torres has been charged with Aggravated Assault with Intent to Murder, Aggravated Battery - Disfigure and Attempted Armed Robbery with Injury.
