Movie screening to address growing childhood obesity problem
MARIETTA, Ga. -- Georgia currently ranks second in the nation for childhood obesity. While schools alone cannot solve this problem, they can help students adopt new ways to eat well and prevent bullying.
On Wednesday, Oct. 26, the Georgia Department of Education will host a screening of The Fat Boy Chronicles at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta to open up a discussion about childhood obesity in Georgia.
The Fat Boy Chronicles offers an extraordinary look into the everyday life of an overweight teenager who takes it upon himself to stop the abuse he encounters at school. Jason Winn, the film's director, will be present to speak after the screening, as will co-authors Diane Lang and Michael Buchanan, and other health experts from throughout Metro Atlanta.
