MARIETTA, GA -- On Saturday, Sept. 25, more than 300 volunteers will converge on the Chattahoochee River to participate in the world's largest one-day volunteer event: the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup.
Associates from the Coca-Cola Company, Coca-Cola Enterprises and Delta Airlines will join forces with Atlanta-area residents to remove trash and other debris from the Chattahoochee River at Columns Drive, Marietta; Johnson Ferry North, Marietta; Powers Island, Sandy Springs; and Sope Creek, Sandy Springs. The Coca-Cola Company has supported the ICC for the past 15 years; two years ago, Coca-Cola donated $1 million to the effort.
Last year, the ICC gathered about 7.4 million pounds of debris from more than 500,000 volunteers in 45 U.S. states and 108 countries.
The cleanup will begin at 9:00 a.m on Saturday and last until 1:00 p.m.
