MARIETTA, Ga -- "We keep downplaying that," said Coach Dan Payne before practice.
Whether they downplay it or not, Life University's rugby team is ranked 3rd in the nation by Rugby Magazine.
It's a title the team says has only motivated them.
"They gave us high expectations, but the only way we've responded to it is by putting in more work ," team captain Colton Cariaga added.
Life started their first rugby team in 1980. It was only made up of grad students and candidates for their doctor of Chiropractic.
This year, they started an undergraduate team after they were invited into in the College Premier League, a league for the top collegiate teams in the nation.
So far, they already have a 7-0 winning streak.
"This is just the beginning, we hope to continue to build and work towards the top," Payne said.
But if you ask them if they find it odd that one of the best rugby teams comes from a school known for their Chiropractic program, you'll hear...
"Really around here it's not as odd as it seems, because it's what we've always known," said Payne.
"We also get the best care so we're always in tip-top shape for our games, and very well taken care of," freshman player Paris Hollis added.
Keeping them at the top of not only their health, but their favorite sport.
"It takes a tremendous amount of commitment, training, and fitness work," said Payne. "These guys work so hard."
