POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- A high school graduation was interrupted by sirens on Friday afternoon.
Ambulances were called to McEachern High School's graduation ceremony after a few people suffered from heat-related illnesses during the ceremony.
According to Doug Goodwin, Communications Specialist with the Cobb County School District, "approximately 6,900 people were in attendance so it [the number of people who got sick] is a relatively small number."
According to other reports, a number of attendees were treated on-the-scene. However, those reports are unconfirmed.
Officials say McEachern has conducted it's commencement ceremonies outdoors at Cantrell Stadium for many years.
