Realtor admits to stealing from homes for sale

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- A Florida man has pleaded guilty to entering homes for sale and stealing from them while working as a real estate agent in Cobb County.

Ray Glen Greene, 49, admitted in court that he used his agent keycode to access the homes and take jewelry and other items. He was convicted of eight counts each of burglary and theft by taking, and was sentenced to 20 years, with eight to serve in custody.

Several of Greene's victims attended his trial. Greene apologized to them and admitted he lost count of the number of houses he burglarized. He told the court that he did not sell a single home in more than a year and supported himself by pawning the stolen jewelry.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- A 20-year-old man has been charged with felony murder for killing one person and injuring two more at a party in Marietta last week.

Blaylan Christopher Phillips is being held without bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

The shooting happened shortly after midnight Tuesday in Building 16 at Dwells @ 750 apartment complex on Franklin Road.

Marietta Police Officer David Baldwin said a group of uninvited guests, including Phillips, arrived at the party and started an argument, then opened fire. Three people -- all invited guests -- were struck.

One victim, 19-year-old Christopher Wilson of Marietta, died. The other two are being treated at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. They were identified as 19-year-old Chauncey Martin and 18-year-old Malik Phillips.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- A Marietta man will spend five years in prison after being convicted of punching a police officer.

Gary Dewayne Mullis, 65, was found guilty of one count of obstruction in the Oct. 1, 2012 incident.

The victim, Marietta Police Officer B. Vaughan, testified in court that he approached Mullis at the RaceTrac on South Marietta Parkway near Fairground Street after customers complained that Mullis was asking them for money.

Vaughan said he planned to simply speak to Mullis and possibly cite him for criminal trespass, but Mullis punched him in the face and pulled off his officer's radio and ammunition magazine.

"Cobb County is not going to tolerate your behavior," Cobb County Judge Marsha Lake told Mullis before sentencing him.

Mullis received the maximum sentence because he is a recidivist; prosecutors noted he has five prior felony convictions.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- A young girl is expected to recover after being shot in Marietta Wednesday night.

The incident happened at an apartment complex on Franklin Road. Police said the victim was attending a party with other children and adults when two guests got into a fight and shots rang out.

Investigators said the girl did not know the shooter, and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was struck by a stray bullet and taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Her name and age were not released.

Police arrested two people in connection with the shooting.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- A Marietta couple was sentenced to prison after being convicted of stealing $1.3 million from the woman's employer.

Angela Lynn Williamson, 45, received a sentence of 40 years, with 15 to serve in custody. Her husband, 47-year-old Scott Brian Williamson, also got 40 years, with two to serve in custody.

Both defendants were found guilty of racketeering for taking money from InterContinental Marble, a Marietta-based company that imports stone for fireplaces.

According to information presented in court, Angela Williamson was ICM's office manager. From 2000 to 2011, she wrote checks to herself from the company's bank account.

4 shot, 2 fatally, in Austell

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Two people were killed and two more were hurt in a Cobb County shooting.

The incident happened in the 2100 block of Cardell Road in Austell Sunday evening.

Monday afternoon, Cobb County Police identified the two deceased victims as 20-year-old David Blount of Smyrna and 24-year-old Ryan Christopher Bobbitt of Marietta.

Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said investigators recovered the gun used, but the shooter has not been caught.

Police are searching for a fifth person involved in the shooting, but have not determined whether he is a suspect or a victim. They described the person as a man with dreadlocks who is wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Investigators are speaking to witnesses and trying to piece together details of the case.

Suspect robs bank, escapes in stolen car

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County Police are looking for the man accused of robbing a Marietta bank over the weekend.

The suspect hit the Chase Bank in the 1700 block of Powder Springs Road at around 9 a.m. Saturday.

Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman said the suspect pulled out a handgun, ordered the tellers to the ground and demanded cash. He ran after receiving the money.

The suspect escaped from the scene in a black 2007 Honda Accord with Georgia tag BTI 2430. Bowman said the car was reported stolen in Gwinnett County on Apr. 30.

Surveillance cameras inside the bank captured images of the suspect, described as a black man between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing black clothing, a baseball cap, muddy black boots, dark gloves and a cloth mask over his face.
