Sending Your Baby To Kindergarten

Sending Your Baby To Kindergarten

The school bell will ring soon and many parents will send a child to kindergarten. This is always an emotional time for parents. For some, it will be sending your first born and for others it will be sending the youngest of four. Kindergarten is an important milestone in your child’s life. Your child’s maturity will grow tremendously this year and you’ll get to see a small glimpse of how your hard work over the past 5 years has shaped your child. It wasn’t that long ago that you held your precious baby in your arms for the first time. Where did the time go? Now it’s time to send that little baby off to kindergarten. For most this will be the first full school day, the first  year to ride the school bus, the first year to have homework, and the first year when peer influences begin to play a role.

Theatre in the Square opens 30th season with nostalgia

Theatre in the Square opens 30th season with nostalgia

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Theatre in the Square will open its 30th season this Wednesday with On Golden Pond.

The popular play by Ernest Thompson revolves around Norman and Ethel Thayer returning to their summer home on Golden Pond in Maine for the 48th time, only to have their normally quiet escape disrupted by their daughter's arrival with her finacé and his mouthy 13-year-old son.

On Golden Pond will be an especially poignant production because it was the first play the theatre produced, back in September 1982.

"I thought it would be well to observe this milestone season by recalling how it all began -- with this show and its impact on that first audience of Mariettans, mostly longtime or original residents," said Theatre in the Square co-founder and producing director Palmer Wells.

Weekend jackpots shine: $99M Mega; $180M Powerball

ATLANTA – Georgia Lottery players this weekend have a chance to hook large prizes from two healthy jackpots.

The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday is at a strong $99 million with a whopping $180 million Powerball jackpot up for grabs Saturday.

Tickets per play for both games are $1 with an additional $1 for the Mega Millions Megaplier and Power Play multiplier options.

Any lucky Mega Millions player who matches all five white ball numbers, along with the Mega Ball number, could win approximately $3.8 million a year for 26 years with the annuity option. Or a player could select the cash option and win a single payment worth approximately $66 million.

Since joining Powerball in 2010, two lucky winners from Georgia have won jackpot prizes.

Powerball offers two payment options: the jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments or the cash option, which is approximately $100 million.
