New Elections Manager Starts Job in Cobb County
News, Politics

MARIETTA, GA (AP) -- Cobb County has a new elections manager.

Janine Eveler replaces retiring director Sharon Dunn, who has overseen elections since 1981.

Eveler, who took over on Sunday, has been with the county since 2004. Dunn retires on Tuesday, but could stay on as a contractor for the elections division at a rate of $800 per day up to $25,000 through the end of the year per a request by the elections board.

The board has not decided whether to withdraw or modify its request, but commissioners are scheduled to discuss the contract request during a meeting Sept. 14.
